Who does the National Curriculum affect?

The National Curriculum is adhered to by community and foundation schools.  Private schools are not obliged to follow the National Curriculum, or to make their pupils sit National Tests.  Some private schools choose to use the National Curriculum, whilst others reject it in preference for their own curriculum of teaching and learning.

What will happen to the National Curriculum when education or training for young people is compulsory to the age of 18?
